Richard Hambly
(Goalkeepers Head Coach)
Richard has been playing in goal since the age of 8, but in his early years in England did not have the benefit of specialised goalkeeper training and was very much “self taught.”

However by the age of 17 he was good enough to be selected to play for the England U18 schoolboy team. Richard played for Southampton Football Club where he was able to benefit from daily training with legend Peter Shilton, the England goalkeeper who won a record 119 caps for his country.

Richard then played at a semi-professional standard in England for the next 15 years before retiring from competitive football. However since moving to Australia in 2008 Richard has started playing again for Coolum FC’s Over 35s team, but his ineterest turned to handover his knowledge to the future’s goalkeepers.
